Changjiang Daily Wuhan Client, September 3 (Reporter Chen Zhi) — Recently, the world’s first and largest 10,000‑ton servo direct‑drive electric screw press has passed all performance tests at an aerospace enterprise. Developed by Wuhan Newwish Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Newwish), the equipment can reach a maximum blow force of 20,000 tons. This marks a major breakthrough for China in the field of high‑end industrial mother machines.

“This equipment is designed to forge the most complex structural components with the highest‑performance requirements for aircraft and aero‑engines,” introduced Feng Yi, General Manager of Newwish. Standing 14 meters tall — equivalent to a five‑story building — the machine also features an 8‑meter‑deep underground foundation. The next phase will advance whole‑line linkage, auxiliary‑equipment coordination, process verification and reliability verification to realize mass production of key products.

Founded in 1993 by Professor Huang Shuhuai, former President of Huazhong Institute of Technology (now Huazhong University of Science and Technology), Newwish has travelled a 30‑plus‑year journey from follower to pacesetter: it developed China’s first domestic electric screw press in 2003, took the lead in launching the servo direct‑drive electric screw press in 2016, and has now completed the 10 000‑ton press. Today Newwish is transforming from supplying standalone machines to delivering total‑solution packages. It has also built the “iMetal” die‑forging‑process AI agent, encapsulating decades‑worth of accumulated forging expertise within this intelligent engine to drive intelligent transformation for the traditional forging industry.

Previously, similar ultra‑large‑tonnage equipment had long relied on imports. At present, Newwish serves more than 600 customers at home and abroad, with products exported to Europe, Japan and other regions. On July 24, Newwish signed an agreement for its headquarters and 10 000‑ton manufacturing plant to settle in Optics Valley Intelligent Manufacturing Park; the facility is scheduled to go into operation in August 2027.
